So, the whole of yesterday was spent packing sunflowers for stress management programme for the jap company sumitomo. My company basically does workplace health promotion and that includes mental health. Nothing much.. just 700 BLOODY sunflowers.

She chatted throughout when i was baking my boss's birthday cupcakes. I baked for 2 hours for your information... LOL.. She's like vocal blogging her daily events to her sister-in-law. I guess all "aunty" aunties are like that. i find it so amusing.

So, today was a busy day.... on the way home, i saw something that really sets me thinking. Above is a pic of this family waiting at the bus stop together with me.
Mother: You look at [insert name]. He work hard so he get good results.
Son : *silence
Mother: Did you hear me? and stop asking her to carrying your bag. shes old already.
Son : I...... *silence
Father: You heard your mum (in chinese)
Mother: You must aim for higher marks. What so difficult about it?
Son : *silence
Father: Aiyoh! why you scratch your hand?! See!! red red already (in chinese)
Mother: Bus is here already lar, faster faster
Son : *starts tearing, kept wiping tears off
And you thought things were over.
In bus
Son : *looks down
Mother: Have you done your maths assessment~?!
Son : I~~....... (cuts in by mum)
Mother: So lazy. You do a few questions only right.
Seriously what is going on with typical Singapore parents? Can't you just listen to your son what he has to say? What happened to all those love you showed him when he was still learning to crawl? Where's all the hugs and kisses on the forehead. It seems like as the child grows up, he/she gets lesser affection. Why can't the mum ask something like, "how are things with your friends?", or "any feelings for and girls?". They don't seem to care about how your emotional growth part. He's your son. I know you want the best for him; and you think you know whats best for him. But is that true? Have you asked him why he hates math? He could be the next leonardo da vinci ya know. Grades aren't everything. These parents think that
good grades = good future = they are good parents (MY ASS)
PLEASE LAR PARENTS! sometimes you got to look at yourself. Don't expect a newton or clinton if you are just some passer-by material. GOSH.
