I attended a funeral of a close relative last week. My mother's brother who was my uncle passed on. It was a heart wrenching event and it made realise how fragile life is, how i MUST not should cherish all my family and loved ones because time just won't wait till you find the courage to say I love you to them. Anyway, amidst all these grief, i was still appointed the photographer by my cousin-in-law to shoot the funeral. I really hate the fact that i have to snap away while everyone is weeping. I would appreciate that i join them instead of standing outside the crowd shooting. However, since this was the last thing i could do for him, i gladly did. i will post maybe one or two photos when i get hold of them but i don't really see a point shooting depressed, tearing, faces. I felt like a reporter sent to a disaster for a moment.
Then my another uncle from Malaysia approached me to shoot his kids' portrait to hang in their newly renovated rooms. And here's the product. I simply used ikea lamps and a white wall from another room in my home. I must say that whatever i learnt about lighting in NAFA was crucial in producing these photos. Basics, although boring, is pretty much needed to lay foundation to everything. Pak Kee, if you are reading this, u ought to have attended all the lesssons! and not asking me how to use simple photoshop techniques when you went for a half year course too!
