Let me read you a short story from a book i borrowed from my cousin recently.
There was this lady who was 92 years old. She was petite, well-poised and diginified. She was fully dressed each morning by eight 0'clock, with her hair fashionably coifed and her makeup perfectly applied, in spite of the fact that she was legally blind. She has just moved to a nursing home. Her husband of 70 years had recently passed away, making the move necessary.
After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when her room was made ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, the nurse provided a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet curtains that had been hung on her window. "
" I love it,"stated the old lady with all the enthusiasm of an eight year old having just been presented a new puppy. "Mrs Jones, You haven't seen the room...... just wait, "the nurse said. The old lady spoke words that the nurse will never forget: "That does not have anything to do with it. Happiness is something you decide ahead of time.
Whether i like the room or not does not depend on how the furniture is arranged. It is how i arrange my mind. I have already decided to love it. Its is a decision i make every morning when i wake up.
I have a choice.
I can spend the day recounting the difficulty i have with the parts of my body that no longer work or i can get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift and as long as my eyes open, i will focus on the new day and all the happy memories i have stored away.... just for this time of my life.
Charles Swindoll, a popular and successful christian author once said, " I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent of how i react to it. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.
There wasn't any fancy vocabulary in this whole passage nor any shocking relevation, just a simple story to tell us how we have the ability to change things. Small or big doesnt matter, really, at least you tried or gave your all.
I know the topic of appreciating all things you have in life is soooo overkill because such stories easily pull heart strings, making you feel that you have read something worthwhile.
Still, i believe some things like love cannot never be preached enough. All religion breeds and educate about love and maybe that is the only exception regarding the rule of overkill?
But now im kinda obsessed with this MTV. Its just so visually stunning to me! someone like justin bieber who cant dance looks like he got the moves of usher. Talk about camera tricks. Anyway i love the art direction. The new asian pop culture e.g. korean, china twist added to it makes it fresh. Mass appeal bieber?

I thought about dreams. More often than not, we dream when we fall asleep. During the day, we sometimes build sandcastles in the air. We all dream in one way or another.
While not all our dreams consist of obtaining wealth and power, most of them depict what seems ideal to that individual. Our dreams draw inspiration from our day to day activities; they magnify both our fears and wants. Some say aim for the moon and you will fall on the stars, while others claim that they are living their dream.
In this century where practicality takes over idealism, can we still think outside of the box? Should we still dream?

My uncle is such an inspiration for me. 76 when he got his doctorate. He worked in a shipping company after marriage to support the whole family and only after retirement when he has the time and money, and when he has fulfilled his role as a husband and father to raise the family, he went on to study chinese medicine so he could help others.
Usually people just want to go genting or bali once a while to holiday but he chose to go china to chase a dream most people born in the 40s didnt get; an education. AND people like us still complain about homework!
Please call 64441369, DR HO POH CHOONG, for an appointment. haahah. And please pardon if my auntie is shouting in the phone. LOL.. elderly have this problem with technology.

But you know what i discovered? We are all sitting in this roller coaster of life. We all go through ups and downs whether be it the front, center or back seat. At some point of our lives, we will hit the peak or take the plunge down. The only difference is the way we react to these fluctuations. We can either close our eyes, hold our breaths or we can scream and enjoy the dive.
You just have to trust that at the end of the ride, that you have enjoyed every moment of the ups and downs because you didnt hold back.

Friction causes wear and tear. Without friction, we might never need to change another tire, we might never need to do re-flooring of tiles nor do we need to buy another pair of shoes (ok, maybe not for my case). But without friction, it would also mean that things are not grounded. Without friction, nothing would be in place nor order. Nothing would settle down and nothing could feel real.
Sometimes a little friction slows us down the right way and makes us enjoy the scenery of our paths better. A little friction reminds us that we will wear and tear, and that we should be mindful and enjoy every step of the way. A slight rub gives off some heat to keep check that we are indeed flesh and blood.
Friction might not necessarily be a bad thing afterall.

Sometimes i feel if i could execute what i preach, i would be the most perfect person. But i guess there isn't such a person, is there? When the world is asleep, who can i turn to? When all i could hear is the air conditioning, who can i talk to?
I guess if you want the rose, you've got to go through the torns. But i'm without gloves for i want to show you the real me.

1) Do you have this in my size?
2) Is there a different colour?
3) Is there a similiar design other than this?
Most of the time, women try on these shoes. You know from their expression that they love it. Still, 90% of these women would ask those 3 questions above.
Don't you think relationships are like shoes?
We try them. We love them. We want to have them all to ourselves. However, we seem to keep looking out for a nice looking pair, something that is more comfortable, something that fits our status better. Even when we find the perfect pair of shoes, we ask the 3 questions all over again.
However, how comfortable is comfortable? Surely, there's a limit to how comfortable our feet can feel with these shoes on. How chic is chic? That's subjective. And how perfect is perfect? Let me share with you something i observed. The happiest customers are those who see, try, fit and buy. Just the first pair they set their eyes on. They didnt ask for other colours, nor did they ask for a more chic design. And when asked if it was comfortable, they just smiled.
We try and try, question and question, not knowing the best pair of shoes are the ones we are already wearing. :)
